We are an authorized distributor of Chart Industries products, including new bulk tanks, final line assemblies, vaporizers, automatic change-over manifolds, and many other accessory items. Many customers lease their bulk tank and associated equipment, but those who want more flexibility with their molecule suppliers, or simply want to get more value out of their tank expenditures, will opt to purchase their bulk tanks and associated equipment.
Our trained technicians handle all aspects of bulk tank installation, from delivery, to rigging, to setup and final connections. We also handle regular preventative maintenance and service on bulk tanks and their associated equipment.
The only aspects we typically don’t handle are the tank pad itself and any lighting, but we can work with your local engineers, concrete workers, and electricians to ensure everything is built to the right specifications.
When you have the need for bulk nitrogen, but need more flexibility in placement, Perma-Cyl micro bulk tanks are great bulk alternatives. With capacities ranging from 450 to 5500 liters, the Perma-Cyl can handle many size applications.
Or, when you are going through too many portable cylinders, the Perma-Cyl is the logical next step to mitigate liquid losses and consolidate your supply source. Perma-Cyl bulk tanks are extremely efficient, and will hold LN2 much longer than numerous smaller cylinders.
Perma-Cyl tanks are extremely versatile, and many models are palletized for ease of transport. These tanks have much less stringent requirements for placement, so these are great options when setting a large bulk tank pad is not feasible.
Perma-Cyl tanks are rated for high pressure and are often used for gas applications, but can be used for low pressure liquid withdraw as well. If low pressure liquid is needed, then the tank can and should be built with a vacuum jacketed liquid output, rather than the standard non-jacketed outlet.
Most cryogenic liquid needs are low in pressure, whereas most gas requirements are higher in pressure. When setting up a tank for liquid withdraw, it is typical to set the supply tank at or around the desired use point pressure, which is typically low.
When a user needs both low pressure liquid and high pressure gas from the same tank, the combination of a high pressure supply tank and an APPS (adjustable pressure phase separator) is recommended. An APPS unit is a specialized piece of equipment that effectively reduces cryogenic liquid pressure. Unlike gas applications, liquid nitrogen can not be regulated by standard pressure regulators, regardless if the regulator states it is rated for the temperature.
The APPS unit is a great tool for these types of applications. Like all distribution systems, it will only function properly if set up properly and serviced regularly.
The Generation 4 APPS is the most advanced pressure reducing system on the market. The APPS can output a continuous 15 gallons per minute of low pressure liquid nitrogen, and accept input pressures up to 235 psi.

We have liquid capacities from 35 to 265 liters, and gas capacities from 1500 to 7000 cubic feet. Cylinders come with either a standard foot-ring, welded casters, or a square base with casters and large handle. Cryogenic liquids serviced include e nitrogen, oxygen, argon, CO2, and nitrous oxide.
There are many benefits to owning your own cylinders. New, customer owned cylinders have a great efficiency of approximately 2% NER per day, which is considerably better than used, rented cylinders, that are well traveled.
If you also have a bulk or micro-bulk system, but need portable cylinders as well, owning a combination of your own cylinders and a cylinder fill station would be appropriate. See below for information on cylinder fill stations.

When you have a bulk system, and want to fill portable cylinders from that bulk system, a cylinder fill station is the most accurate and safe method.
The most basic method of filling a cylinder is to hook a higher pressure liquid supply to the cylinder, open both the supply and the vent, and watch the exhaust. Once the exhaust starts spitting liquid, your tank is full. A liquid cylinder fill station essentially does the same thing, but automated. The exhaust is monitored by a temperature probe, and when the exhaust sees the temperature of liquid nitrogen, the fill station automatically shuts off the fill cycle. There are several types of fill stations, each with their own pros and cons, but they mostly work off this concept.
The second (and arguably best) method for filling cylinders is by weight. A cylinder can be hooked to a fill station, while on a scale. When the scale reaches a set point entered by the user, the fill station will shut off the fill cycle. The fill-by-weight method is the most precise, but the drawback is the manipulation of heavy cylinders on and off scales.
When you want to automatically fill open-mouth dewars, instead of pressurized liquid cylinders, you would be interested in an automatic dewar fill station. This fill station is similar to a liquid cylinder fill station, except the temperature probe that shuts off the fill cycle is placed inside the dewar instead of in a vent circuit. These units are very versatile, because the probe can be affixed as per user preference.
When using a cryogenic bulk or micro-bulk tank for gas use, you need a properly sized vaporizer to effectively convert the liquid into ambient temperature gas, regulated for use.

After the vaporizer, we sell high quality final line assemblies, which manage and regulate the gas flow and pressure leading to your distribution piping.
Before the vaporizer, our automatic vaporizer changeover manifold switches between a dual vaporizer setup, allowing each vaporizer a chance to fully thaw and operate at peak efficiency. While the unit works off electricity, a power outage does not interrupt usage; the flow simply stays on the vaporizer the manifold left off.
The Chart Trifecta System has become the standard solution for a continuous supply for nitrogen assist gas, which is critical for lights out operations in laser cutting. Liquid delivery to the bulk tank can happen at any time and because the bulk tank operates at low pressure, the delivery does not incur losses or additional time from blow-down.
The Trifecta System operates by drawing liquid nitrogen from a standard bulk tank into one of its cylinders and then boosts the liquid pressure with a high performance pressure builder. During this time, the other cylinder is delivering liquid to an external ambient vaporizer that feeds the application. Once this cylinder is empty, it will vent back to the bulk tank and to atmosphere, preparing itself for a refill. This two-cylinder, four-stroke (Fill, Pressure Build, Delivery, Vent) system works automatically to provide the application with a continuous supply of pure nitrogen gas at pressures up to 550 psig (38 barg). The Trifecta System has no down time with minimal losses, and it eliminates high pressure pumps, compressors, cylinder cradles and surge tanks.

When supplying storage freezers with portable tanks, a Cylinder Tank Switcher can ensure that if your supply tank runs empty, there will be another tank ready to take its place automatically. We work with several types of tank switchers that use different methods to determine if a tank has gone empty.
Some switchers use pressure to operate. If source pressure drops below a certain threshold, the switcher will assume the tank is empty and will switch to the standby supply cylinder. The system is also activated by sensing the pressure drop of a freezer opening its solenoid, or someone opening a manual valve, which make the switcher very versatile to any use point.
Other switchers will work off temperature probes to sense liquid flow. When the temperature probe does not sense liquid when it should, it will switch to the standby cylinder. Since this system does not work off of pressure, each piece of equipment is wired to auxiliary equipment that communicates with the tank switcher.
Regardless of type of switcher, there are limitations to all switchers that should be known. The first and foremost is that tank switchers are a less efficient means to get liquid from a supply cylinder to a use point. Customers should be aware that the intent is to provide backup, but the overall system will use more liquid nitrogen in doing so. Also, there are physical limitations to running systems off of tank switchers. It is best to consult with us before setting up a tank switcher so we can determine if your application is appropriate.

Based on the physical characteristic that one part of liquid nitrogen warms and expands into 700 parts of gaseous nitrogen at ambient temperature, Chart's engineers have designed automated dosing equipment and complete systems that precisely dispense a measured dose of LN2 into each container prior to sealing. The trapped liquid nitrogen vaporizes, creating pressure, and adding rigidity to the container – allowing for a thinner container wall. For preservation and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) applications, the rapidly expanding gas is allowed to escape before the product is sealed, flushing out oxygen, and extending product shelf life.
A precise dose of liquid nitrogen is delivered immediately before capping or seaming. The trapped LN2 quickly vaporizes, pressurizing the container. In hot fill applications, the nitrogen pressure counteracts the vacuum created when a hot product cools. Typical applications for this method include bottled water, energy shots, flax seed oil, juices (hot and ambient fill) and vinegar.
An exact dose of liquid nitrogen is introduced seconds before the seamer or capper. The small dose of liquid nitrogen gasifies, 700 times its volume, in the process. The large volume of gaseous nitrogen pushes the oxygen out of the container. Applications for preservation include automobile oil, beer, condiments and wine.
A dose of liquid nitrogen is introduced to "lock in" and surface freeze the product before it's transferred to a traditional tunnel or spiral freezer. Freezing applications include dipped ice cream cones and iCream Café.
A large dose of liquid nitrogen is introduced into the package seconds before the seamer or capper. Proven MAP applications include: baby formula, coffee, nuts and trail mix.
